Brian is an organization development consultant with an interest in jazz as a student of its history and a player of jazz piano.

These vocational and avocational interests have come together in a business venture, Getting in the Groove, that explores jazz as an improvisational art form and its implications for organizational change, innovation and learning.

Brian’s corporate career prior to launching his company has been rich and extensive:
Senior Consulting Associate in Coopers & Lybrand’s human resource and organization development consulting practice.

Previously he directed the reward management practice area of Hay Management Consultants Canada and provided consulting services in the areas of human resource functional reviews, organization design and development, career and succession planning, management development and training, performance management and executive incentive compensation.

Vice-President, Human Resources at the Royal Trust Company, responsible for all aspects of human resource management as well as the development and management of the corporate strategic planning process.

Earlier in his career he handled organization and management development at United Aircraft. With the Steel Company of Canada he held a variety of line and staff positions before managing the human resources function of their Eastern Region operation.

Education and Professional Affiliations:

  • Brian is a director of the Thomas More Research Institute for Adult Liberal Studies which has as its special interest how adult learning happens.
